JimJim McGrath is the Managing Director of Financial Strategies, Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor.

Since 1983, he has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner licensed by the CFP Board of Standards in Washington, DC. He has been licensed by the State of Maryland as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1982. As part of his ongoing continuing education, Jim successfully completed the coursework for and was awarded the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the American College in 2000. Since January 2004, Mr. McGrath is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Planner. Jim is one of only six individuals with this array of credentials out of a universe of approximately 650,000 people in the US who call themselves financial advisors.

Active in numerous professional and civic organizations, Mr. McGrath is the Past President of both the National Capital Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planners (IAFP) and the Rockville Rotary Club. He is an active member of the Maryland Society of Accountants, the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).

Over the last thirty years, in addition to appearing on local cable television and radio, Mr. McGrath has been quoted in The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, New Choices, Worth, Investor's Business Daily, The Chicago Tribune, USAIR Magazine, Consumer's Digest, Changing Times, Readers Digest, The New York Times, Sylvia Porter's Personal Finance, Personal Investor Magazine, Washington Dossier, Washington Woman, Washington Business Review, and the Washington Business Journal.
